For more than 25 years, la Alianza de Medicos al Rescate (A.M.A.R.) has been able to provide free voluntary health services to the most vulnerable communities. “Where sometimes neither police or military can access, we want to bring our doctors,” says Dr. Jesús M. Alvelo Santiago, director of the alliance. From Mexico to the remote Andes in Peru and from the Amazon to Haiti, this astounding group of doctors has been present, a lot of times right after devastating natural disasters. The medics of A.M.A.R. bring their own medicine reserves to their missions since there is no time to waste. Currently, this group is visiting our Island’s most remote communities affected hurricane María. You can help get free health services to people in need by donating to embracingpuertorico.com.
