“Before you go ahead and spend a single dime in SEO tools, do your research! There is an incredible amount of free tools out there that can benefit you in various ways. Some of these tools will be focused on linking (i.e. backlinks) and some others are about traffic, content and speed. I have gathered the most useful tools that I came across when I started studying and researching search optimizations.”
Google Chrome Browser
If you are starting your journey into the SEO world this would be my best initial advice. First, do yourself a favor and download Google Chrome Browser and install it on your computer. Google Chrome has great development tools that your will want to have on your side including AMP validation and website inspection tools.
Part of the reason that Google Chrome is so important is because of the ease of use that has been created by the development of a whole array of tools that support web development, design, SEO, AMP validation, among much more. As you keep on driving down this road you will how important is Chrome to you.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is the world’s leading platform for online traffic analytics. You will have to create a Google account to be able to access it but it is absolutely free and definitely worth checking out. Once you have access the analytics platform you will have to set your domain property check. They provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to go about setting up your account and linking your domain to the platform.
Google Search Console
Google Search Console is another great SEO tool provided by Google that is absolutely free. It will help you and guide you with a huge array of documentation many other aspects that will increase your search engine visibility.
SEO Quake Bar
After you have installed Google Chrome, search and install the SEO Quake Bar Extension for Google Chrome, available in the Google Chrome Extensions Search Page. You have to download the SEO Quake Bar! With the SEO Quake Bar you will be able to start inspecting your webpage and others in order to make the necessary changes to include visibility.
Alexa Toolbar
The Alexa is great to see some insights into your page rank. Many people are tempted into subscribing to the Alexa service thinking that their page rank will go up, but this is not true. Alexa can give you information about sites linking in to the website (backlinks), information about average website speed and a couple of other details regarding the website.
Check My Links
Check My Links is another Google Chrome extension that comes in handy when making sure that everything in your website is well connected. Sometime when we are coding we might leave some incomplete links. This broken links might jeopardize your ranking given that web crawlers (robots) when they detect broken links in pages, they affect your page rank.
The good thing about this extension is that it serves a purpose for you, but it also gives you an opportunity. When you go about generating backlinks you will find that having a tool that checks for broken links can be very useful. If when you are browsing the web and find a website where you would like to exhibit your content for backlinking and you see that they have broken links, this is your foot in the door. Approach them about their broken link and after that try to make a pitch to see if they can link to your content. Not that this is a foolproof method, but at least it will help you practice your backlinking generator speech which you will certainly need for SEO.
